What qualifies me as a Video Producer & Editor?
My extensive background in media, spanning over 12 years, has equipped me with a robust skill set and experiences that aligns seamlessly with the role of a video producer and editor. With a decade-long proficiency in video editing software, including Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects, I possess the technical skills necessary to edit video and audio effectively.
As Owner/Videographer/Editor at Timeless Story, LLC, I’ve been responsible for the end-to-end process of creating visually appealing content, including cinematic wedding films.
Having worked as the Lead Video Producer at Statesboro Herald, where I edited shows and produced live events, I am accustomed to working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. As a self-motivated individual, I have a proven track record of working both independently and remotely. My roles have required a keen attention to detail, evident in tasks such as filming, color correction, motion graphics design, and equipment maintenance.
Additionally, my experience involves iteratively responding to feedback to achieve desired outcomes, highlighting my commitment to continuous improvement.
In summary, my comprehensive background in media production, coupled with a diverse skill set, positions me as a well-rounded candidate ready to contribute to the success of your team as a video producer and editor.
My experience with editing software:
I have extensive experience using Adobe Premiere Pro for editing projects, ranging from short packages to longer shows and cinematic-style wedding films. I’m comfortable with both basic and advanced editing techniques, including color grading, audio mixing, and utilizing various effects. I am well-versed in Adobe After Effects, particularly in designing and creating motion graphics. I have used After Effects to enhance the visual appeal of my video projects, incorporating dynamic elements and improving overall production quality.
My proficiency in Adobe Photoshop extends to creating and designing elements for video projects, including logos, branding, and other visual assets. This skill set enhances my ability to produce cohesive and visually appealing content. I have experience using Adobe Audition for audio editing and mixing. This includes tasks such as cleaning up audio tracks, enhancing sound quality, and ensuring a professional audio output in my video productions.
I am skilled in using Adobe Media Encoder to optimize and export video files efficiently, ensuring compatibility with various platforms and maintaining high-quality output. I have experience using Frame.io for collaborative video review and approval. This tool facilitates seamless communication and feedback during the post-production process.
File types I have experience working with:
I primarily work with MP4 (using H.264) as it’s the most common and widely used video format. I export Premiere projects in the H.264 format for use on Frame.io when collaborating with others and for deliverables. The other file formats I work with are WAV, AAC for audio and JPG, PNG, and TIFF for images, respectfully. I have worked with MXF, AVI, MOV, AVCHD, MPEG, FLV, RAW and MP3. The codec I work with most is ProRes 422 during the editing phase.
Other technical skills:
I have experience using Google Analytics for measuring various metrics, and knowledge in Content Management Systems, basic HTML and XML data.
How I manage and organize files:
My approach to organizing and managing large amounts of footage begins with creating a clean file structure with clear and easy to find folder names, including information pertinent to organizing the footage (date, time, scene, take). I log footage through clear labeling and add metadata information to the clips, such as keywords and notes. Within Premiere Pro, I use color coding to further organize footage by frame per second (fps) and resolution of the footage within each folder bin.
Additionally, I create and work with proxies for large amounts of footage to streamline the editing process. To prevent data loss, I back up footage through local and cloud-based solutions. I also utilize Frame.io to use as a remote access point for checking in with and collaborating with other stakeholders for feedback. This includes uploading project file backups, and making revised project changes.
How I ensure smooth transitions in my projects:
I utilize clean cuts based on the motion in the footage for seamless transitions and maintain continuity between shots. To help maintain smooth transitions between shots for audio, I use J-cuts and L-cuts. I utilize establishing shots to give scenes context. To set the pacing of the video, I use music to carry the narrative through the music’s tempo and rhythm which also may involve trimming the music piece all while ensuring the piece has a natural beginning and end. I implement keyframes (using ease in and ease out, accordingly) within the video and audio structure for smooth transitions.
How I maintain consistency style and tone project to project:
Developing a clearly defined style and tone consistently across multiple videos would involve having a set of standards that would align with the overall visual style, tone and language style of the video or series. Ideally, I’d include following predefined scripts, having visuals (graphics, intro/outro), consistent color grading (to ensure that each video has a similar visual flow), and having a music style that will carry the series and bring it all together in a consistent and cohesive way. And finally, to ensure consistency, I would want to ensure there’s a coordinated effort with other team members to maintain those established standards, but at the same time, be open to evolving the content to change with an audience’s interests.
How I handle feedback during the editing process:
I make it a priority to approach feedback and revisions with a positive attitude and mindset. I review feedback and revisions carefully and make sure I understand the clients or team members comments and concerns prior to making any changes to the edit. Once I’m confident of the changes that need to be made, I make sure to prioritize the most important and immediate changes first. If I need additional information or clarification I will reach out to the clients or team members (depending on how the procedures for contact are set up) and implement the changes. I take a version control approach to labeling each revision made in order to keep track of different iterations of a project.
This approach provides previous versions in the event that clients or team members prefer an earlier edit and provides a clear history of the changes that have been made during the editing process. I view each round of feedback and revisions as a learning tool to better understand the preferences of the clients or team members to provide improved results on future edits.
What I love about storytelling:
My inspiration and love for storytelling come from my desire to tell great stories that connect with people on an individual and emotional level. Crafting a meaningful narrative means finding the heart of a story and transforming the story’s visual and sound elements into a well-edited and engaging experience for the audience. Visual storytelling through film has provided a dynamic way to connect with the audience’s emotions and to explore the way we as people, emotionally perceive the world around us and through those shared emotional connections, bring us all together.
I wanted to make aerial video a part of my creative tool set and provide a competitive edge in the work I offer. I have been able to incorporate drone shots into a variety of projects, from weddings, promotional videos, real estate tours, and more. This expanded dynamic use of video showcases my versatility as a videographer. I am also dedicated to safety and adherence to regulations while operating UAVs by holding an FAA Part 107 certification. The certificate is essential for professional drone operation.
I have a thorough understanding of camera setup, programming camera functions and shot composition. I have worked with a variety modern day 4K cameras both with DSLR and SDI-style setups. My proficiency in both studio and run-and-gun videography showcases my ability to capture footage in both controlled environments and dynamic, fast-paced ones, making me well-suited for a variety of shooting conditions and situations.
I have played various design roles as determined by the needs of a production. On a practical level, I have worked on set dressings, designed studio sets with lighting, audio and camera setups. As a digital designer, I have created pleasing and functional websites, conceptualized and designed logos, graphics and promotional materials to add valuable visual identity and branding. I use Adobe Creative Suite programs extensively for creating visually engaging video content.
Serving as producer, my responsibilities include overseeing and managing the technical aspects of video projects, ensuring high-quality visuals and audio, and delivering content that aligns with branding and marketing strategies. My commitment to providing fresh content also included keeping programs updated to reflect the latest trends and best industry practices for online content.
By harnessing my cumulative experience and expertise, I successfully founded a business that embodies my skills and knowledge, channeling them into the creation of video content and the sharing of this wisdom with others. Running a business is an exhilarating journey filled with unique challenges and gratifying accomplishments. Pursuing a passion has significantly enhanced my skills, leading to a profound personal and professional growth that I may not have fully recognized had I not embraced the associated risks.
As the brain child of the Statesboro Film Festival, I played a key role helping to showcase local filmmaker's talent to the community. I promoted the festival annually to film students as a classroom co-speaker, assisted entrants with film submissions, selected the award trophy design, award engravings, and designed the festival's logo. I coordinated with event location technical staff for desired setup and testing of equipment and helped resolve format-related issues with submissions.
I had the multifaceted responsibility of overseeing the NewTek TriCaster live operations, which encompassed camera feed switching and audio management, as well as the coordination of on-air talent. This role extended to meticulous pre-broadcast preparations, including system configuration, equipment testing, and the seamless integration of assets into the broadcasting system. In the event of technical challenges, I applied my troubleshooting expertise to swiftly resolve issues.

Professional Service, Beautiful Video!
Matt created the most beautiful video of our wedding day that allows us to re-live the special moments for years and years to come. Matt was courteous and professional with every interaction and he, along with his second shooter, Evan, blended in quietly and seamlessly on our day. We almost didn’t get a videographer, but my mother convinced us after seeing a professional video of our friends’ wedding day, and let me tell you, easiest the best decision we made in regards to our planning. And the pricing was fair based on everything received and the time they spent not only on the day to get the best shots, but the creation of our highlight video. We love everything about our video and we ae so grateful to Matt for preserving the memories of such a magical day. Hire Matt and his team – you will NOT be disappointed with them!
Timeless Story
I am a little late writing this review, but we truly could not have been happier with Matt and his wonderful team! Our big day was hectic and my husband and I are two of the most awkward people in front of the camera, but you’d never know that looking at the video. Matt made us so comfortable, captured every detail, never intruded, and really made our wedding video reflect us as a couple. I was unsure of whether I wanted to have a wedding video, but in hindsight I am SO relieved that we chose to, and especially that we chose Matt and his team. Brides, your wedding day will be a rush of emotions and a blur of activity– do yourself a favor and invest in the video. You won’t regret choosing a Timeless Story!
Excellent Service

Priceless Wedding Film
Matthew and his team were amazing. They were so accommodating and professional. They made sure to catch every detail of the wedding and tastefully turn it into a priceless video.
When going through the wedding planning process, I started to feel guilty about cost. However, several friends and family members shared of their experience of cutting out videographers and how they regretted it. I took their advice, and made sure that a quality video was something we had to look back on years down the road. Not only to remember such a beautiful wedding, but all of the friends and family that were in attendance.
Thank you Matthew providing us with something that is truly priceless!
